The Best of Times, the Worst of Times

The opening paragraph from Dickens’ from A Tale of Two Cities reads, “It was the best of times, it was the worst of times, it was the age of wisdom, it was the age of foolishness, it was the epoch of belief, it was the epoch of incredulity, it was the season of Light, it was the season of Darkness ….”

I’ve never read the book, but I am familiar with the classic rock song it “sort of” inspired. Dennis DeYoung, former lead singer of the band, Styx, said the song “The Best of Times was “… me stealing from Dickens.” I say “sort of” because there’s no indication that DeYoung ever read the book either.

So if DeYoung can do it, then so can I. Here’s my take on times that are both best and worst.
